The Saga of Tucker and Lemon

[SNN/CStone/2023-04-24]

Two "big" heavyweights of the news era were let go today:

Tucker Carlson and Donald Lemon

From the CBC:

Fox News said in a statement on Monday that it had parted ways with controversial host Tucker Carlson.

"We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor," the network said in a statement.

Carlson, after appearing on CNN's Crossfire and on PBS and MSNBC programs, joined Fox News in 2009. His Tucker Carlson Tonight show took an increasingly provocative turn.

Fox last week settled a defamation lawsuit with Toronto-founded Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million US. It faces a similar lawsuit from voting technology company Smartmatic, for $2.7 billion US in damages.

Imagine causing the company you work for damages as much as 3+ billion dollars. Amazing he even had his job that long. I'm just wondering what took so long for the Fox News Executive team to respond adequately. And I hope this is just the beginning. They need to cut more from the tree, as there are far too many disloyal people working for Fox News. More now than ever.

Again from the CBC:

Longtime CNN host Don Lemon is out at the cable news network a little over two months after apologizing to viewers for on-air comments about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, CNN announced Monday.

"CNN and Don have parted ways," CNN chair Chris Licht said in a memo to staff that was also posted on the network's communications Twitter account. "Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavours."

CNN did not provide a public explanation for Lemon's departure. But on the CNN This Morning co-host's own Twitter account, Lemon contended the news came as a surprise to him and characterized it as a firing. He had appeared on his show that morning.

"I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned," he wrote in a statement posted shortly after 12 p.m. ET.

"After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network."

And you know? Donald Lemon deserved this. Not only was he fired by proxy - his AGENT, no less. Not even a goodbye text or typed letter. Imagine the coldness. This is just deserts after treating your co-workers and staff like sexual piƱatas. And don't think nothing was ever not noticed on live TV. We know.

And just because poor Donald Lemon is out of work, doesn't mean he will be suffering very long. I imagine the 50+ million or more (200?) he's amassed in the bank will give him some remorse. And while he fantasied about humiliating his co-workers, guests, and staff... the only person in the end was himself.

Nice clothes do not beget a nice man.

Tucker Carlson, once famous for wearing the bow tie and a loyal Republican supporter - no more. They even have texts from him saying how much he hated the former President Donald Trump.

When he was on CNN, I detested him. This was back in 2006. He was bounced 3 years later by Donald Lemon. And it wasn't much of an upgrade at any rate.

History will mark these two with darkness and awful things. No one will miss them.

Cheers rang out in the CNN production room.

I just know it.

Good riddance to both of them.

And that CNN morning show is still awful.
