Ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel

Groundbreaking news as Israel has approved a ceasefire between Lebanon's Hezbollah, starting to end the 14 months of fighting since the war in Gaza.

Airstrikes continued in Beirut, and the southern parts of the city, with an increased intensity. The ceasefire is set to begin at 4AM on Wednesday.

This ceasefire calls for a 2-month halt on fighting and would require Hezbollah to end it's armed presence in southern Lebanon. Israel would in turn return to their side of the border.

This does not, however, affect any fighting within Gaza.

If this ceasefire is broken, Israel will again attack - according to PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

In other news, Israel struck a target within Lebanon and killed 3 Lebanese journalists, and wounded an untold number of other people.

About 11 journalists have been killed and 8 wounded since the fighting began 13 months ago.

This could be a new beginning for Lebanon, a country stricken with endless fighting and terrorist attacks. French President Emmanuel Macron said:

a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah marked a “new page” for Lebanon and called on its leaders to elect a president “without delay.”

In a video message on X, Macron said restoring Lebanon’s sovereignty depends on ending the presidential vacuum.

“It is the responsibility of Lebanese authorities and all those in senior political roles,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden said that they would continue to push for a ceasefire in Gaza.

President Joe Biden on Tuesday called Israel and Hezbollah’s ceasefire agreement “good news” and expressed hope that the pause in Israel’s weekslong operations in Lebanon will be catalyst to also end fighting in Gaza.
