WASHINGTON, NOV 16 (SNN)

Donald Trump has selected CEO Chris Wright as the Energy Secretary, according to multiple news outlets. Wright, known for being the founder of Liberty Energy, which is an oil field service located in Denver, Colorado.

Known for a defender of fossil fuel, he is going to be expected to support Trump's plan to maximize oil and gas production - and boost electricity generation. Wright is known to not believe in any climate crisis.

Although he has no political experience, Wright has written about the need for more fossil fuel production to lift people out of poverty.

He calls himself a technology nerd, and caused shock when he drank fracking fluid on camera to show it was not dangerous.

He will also oversee the aging U.S. nuclear weapons complex, nuclear disposal, and 17 national labs.

He will likely replace Jennifer Granholm, a supporter of electric vehicles, and geothermal power generation. She is a known supporter of carbon-free wind, solar, and nuclear energy.

U.S. power has been increasing in demand for the first time in decades. And nuclear power appears to be an attractive alternative to conventional power generation technologies.
