BREAKING: 180 Murdered in Haiti by gangs

About 180 people were murdered over this past weekend, in Haiti's Cite Solell area, the PM office of Haiti said today. This was in response that an NGO said were ordered by a gang leader who thought his child was made sick by using "witchcraft".



In a sad fact, most of the victims were elderly. About 110 people over the age of 60 were killed in Cite Solell this past weekend.

Mutilated bodies were burned in the streets, including several young people who were killed attempting to save the residents.

The area in question is a highly dense part of Haiti and is a slum by the Port-au-Prince town. It's amongst the poorest

  • There have been calls for U.N. peacekeepers since October, when the Gran Grif gang killed about 115 people in Pont-Sonde.
    Apparently, it was in retaliation for residents helping a self-defense group stop their road toll operations.

    "The Secretary-General reiterates his pressing call to Member States to provide the Multinational Security Support mission the financial and logistical support required to successfully assist the Haitian National Police," he said.
    A White House security spokesperson echoed the call for urgent international support for the mission and said the United States was "appalled."
