A man who has matched the suspects description, including a silenced hand gun, has been captured. He was found at a McDonalds in Altoona, Pannsylvania, after several people identified him from internet photos.
Mangione, 26, was found with a firearm and silencer used to shoot Thompson, the NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said today - including his clothing, mask, similar as shown in pictures.
The suspect had several fake identifications, including a fake New Jersey ID used in the Manhattan hostel days before the shooting.
Police found a handwritten document explaining his motivation and mindselt for the killings. Mangione was arrested on firearms charges by Altoona police. NYC detectives are on their way to question the suspect.
Last week, CEO of United Healthcare - Brian Thompson, was shot several times by a masked suspect in broad daylight, just after he left his hotel. The suspect had been waiting between vehicles for several minutes before appearing to shoot him from behind.
The words 'deny', 'defend' , and 'depose' was written on the bullet shell casings. This was the name of a book which was critical of the insurance industry book 'Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What you can do about it."
The suspect had ran away to an e-bike into Central Park. Video captured him leaving the park and taking a taxi to a bus station in Manhattan where he fled the city.
