The FBI Director Christopher Wray has announced he will resign before President-elect Donald J. Trump takes office in January. Trump has said he will fire him if he didn't resign.

After spending weeks thinking about it, Chris finally decided it was best to leave instead of being fired by President-elect Trump.

And although Trump had previously appointed Wray during his first administration, he had serious doubts after finding out Trump was being investigated by the same person he appointed.

Wray said: "I've decided the right thing for the bureau is for me to serve until the end of the current administration in January and then step down."

"In my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the bureau deeper into the fray, while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work," Wray added.

Trump said Wray's resignation was "a great day for America".

"It will end the Weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice," he said on Truth Social. "We will now restore the rule of law for all Americans."

Wray's replacement, Kash Patel, is a stoic supporter and has been nominated by President-elect Trump for this role.
