The suspect in the killing of United Healthcare's CEO Brian Thompson was shown today. The 26-year old Luigi Nicholas Mangione was arrested the other day near a McDonalds in Pennsylvania - and charged with murder.
He is an ivy league graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family. He murdered Brian Thompson in cold blood with a gun.
His written document raged about the expensive healthcare in the United States, and that profits of major corporations continue to rise while 'our life expectancy' does not. He called the 'parasitic' health insurance companies and a disdain for corporate greed and power.
Unbelievably, Mangione called the "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski a 'Political revolutionary'. We know him as a domestic terrorist who carried out a series of bombings while raging against modern society and technology.
And so, Mangione remains in custody in Pennsylvania - in jail. He was initially charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and providing false identification to police. The Manhattan prosecutors have an arrest warrant, and will help to extradite him to New York.
He managed to run an incredible 230 miles west of New York city where the crime was committed. When he was found, he was sitting at the back of McDonalds, with his laptop out, wearing a blue face mask.
He was valedictorian at his elite Baltimore prep school, and went to achieve an undergraduate and degrees in computer science from U of Penn in 2020.
“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest,” Mangione’s family said in a statement posted on social media late Monday by his cousin, Maryland Del. Nino Mangione. “We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved.”
