Dictator Bashar Assad Flees to Russia

Syrian dictator Bashar Assad has fled to Russia and has been granted asylum, according to multiple news sources.

Assad fled the country after rebels closed into his area of residence. Assad was granted asylum by the Russian government, and we find it quite hilarious that he jumped to Russia instead of Iran - where he is likely just as hated.

The defeat of the Syrian government by rebels has caused the collapse of the country. Immediately, curfews were put into place to prevent civil discord and looting.

"President Assad of Syria has arrived in Moscow. Russia has granted them (him and his family) asylum on humanitarian grounds," the source told the outlet.

Are these rebel forces extreme Islamist people such as the Taliban in Iraq? Were they affiliated or supporting Al-Qaeda? We do not know.

It would be quite shocking if Syria did a 180 degree turn, agreed to nuclear inspections, and all trade sanctions were removed. One could expect a truly remarkable turn-around for the country.

One hopes.
