“I’m disappointed this was the decision that he landed on here,” Representative Jason Crow, Democrat of Colorado, said of President Biden in an interview. “He promised he would not do this. I think it will make it harder for us going forward when we talk about upholding democracy.”
One could imagine that uncomfortable conversation Hunter had with his father, President Joe Biden.
Let's do it.
Hunter sighs deeply, calls his dad, and takes a deep breath.
"Please don't answer!" he yells inside his head.
On the second ring, someone answers.
"Goddammit!" Hunter screams to himself.
He takes a drag on his cigarette.
"Hey, it's Hunter." he says with a raspy voice, the menthol cigarettes soothing his sore throat.
"Yes sir?" the young woman on the phone answers.
"I'd like to speak to President Biden, it's his son, Hunter."
He stares at the wall shaking his fist angrily.
He hears the phone being placed on mute, then silence.
Several minutes pass. He begins playing an online gambling site for a few minutes.
During the middle of the next card deal, he hears a hoarse voice.
"Is it you, Hunter?" Joe asks on the phone. He sounds like a ghost.
"Dad!" Hunter says loudly. "I need your help! They got me. You HAVE to help me here with a pardon. PLEASE DAD!"
He's almost in tears at this point.
On the other end of the phone, muffled laughter could be heard.
"Shush!" the President is on the phone. Someone says in the background.
The President mumbles something and drops the phone.
"Ouch!" Biden yells as someone grabs the phone from the floor.
A few seconds later, the phone hangs up.
"Fuck!" Hunter screams at the top of his lungs.
"I NEED THIS NOW!" he shouts loudly, pounding his fist into the air.
People around him outside the hotel are starting to stare.
He walks back to his room, grabs another cigarette, and calls up his lawyer.
The next day, the President announces the pardon.
