New Law Brings Felony Charges to Shop Lifting in California

Orange County, California - Shoplifters are getting a wake up call, finding that shoplifting is now a felony. It used to be a minor charge - a misdemeanor - in the 2014 law. Shoplifters who stole less than $950 would be given a misdemeanor charge. The amount of stealing that has been happening in businesses like CVS over the past few months has been steadily increasing.

They have had to lock up items such as deodorant, ice cream, and other items to stop the steal.

This often results in the criminals spending time in jail - sometimes over the Christmas time.
