In a classic move, President-elect Donald J. Trump trolls Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by calling him "Governor" and Canada the "Great State of Canada".
Trudeau was onsite at Mar-A-Lago a week or so ago having dinner with the upcoming President. It must have been a thoughtful discussion - the looming 25% tariffs, the threat of a trade war-- things every single Canadian worries about.
To his credit, Trudeau took it on the chin. You have to remember, Trump is used to people being extremely polite to him. Rarely, if ever, someone is loyal and calls him out. That usually ends very badly for them.
However, there is a lot of work to be done. To continue this supremely important relationship, Trudeau will have to make difficult decisions about border security, tariffs, and trading partners.
This isn't an easy decision. In Canada, each province has their own Premier and let's face it - almost nobody is onboard with Trudeau in 2024. If you asked the average Albertan about him, likely you'd hear swear words.
This isn't warranted. People are angry. There really isn't equal representation in Canada for who leads the country. It's between Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.
The rest of the provinces? Laughable representation. Good luck getting your voice heard if you're the Premier of Prince Edward Island.
But anyway, Trudeau is going to discuss the options with his team and come back to Trump HOPEFULLY before he ascends to President of the United States of America.
We're expecting a lot of big changes in the U.S. over the next few months.
Many changes indeed.
Good luck to the incoming President-elect, hopefully good leadership will make not only America stronger, but Canada too.
