Imagine jumping from a well-paid NBC to work at X (formerly known as Twitter) where chaos reigns and your boss expects you to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We're joking.
But still, Linda Yaccarino worked from X beginning in May 2023 - she was asked to repair the companies' tarnished image with advertisers.
Unfortunately, her boss Elon Musk started to write anti-sematic tweets on the platform which drove away large advertisers, killing the brand.
The death blow came when Musk uttered "Go **** yourselves" to Disney CEO Bob Iger. We guess Musk never received a Christmas card from that man, and was bitter.
And then came these awful two lines:
“I don’t want them to advertise,” he said. “If someone is going to blackmail me with advertising or money, go fuck yourself. Go. Fuck. Yourself,” he said. “Is that clear? Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience, that’s how I feel.”
We won't go into the suspected Nazi salutes nor will we speak about other posts on X. The real question is: Do you start defending freedom of speech, or are you held to the companies' policies? The awful silence after that showed who was really in charge of the company since it was purchased - Musk.
After meeting industry leaders at the Cannes film festival in 2023 with Linda, it was clear the meetings went nowhere. And when Don Lemon was shown on twitter interviewing Musk, the hatred couldn't be hidden between the two. When Lemon dared to question Musk about his alleged drug use, fiery hell erupted during the interview, and Lemon's contract was cancelled.
We all enjoyed that laugh.
The only public tweet Musk said to Linda was this bland statement:
“Thank you for your contributions,” Musk responded to Yaccarino’s post announcing her resignation. Minutes later, he began sending replies to other posts about SpaceX, artificial intelligence and how his chatbot became a Nazi.
What he should have said was "Hey, thanks for putting up with my insane bullshit."
Ha ha ha.
