NHK's studio design is interesting - especially with the LCD people. I'm not sure I like this design. the clear desks have to go. Was this setup to be a gaming setup? Looking at the red color scheme.
My broadcast news studio would have:
- Real wood desks with hanging monitors (34" Ultra-wide IPS panels x 16)
- 16 ultra-high resolution monitors would be behind the presenters, in perfect 4x4 (2k res)
- 4K cameras with STL direct to internet
- Virtual switching and camera controls
- Highest quality broadcast microphones (wireless only)
- Generic sets for quick swaps (eg. Politics Hour, Democratic Debates, etc would share 1 set)
- No background noise: Unlike CNN or Fox, there will be NO trespassing, video of employees working, or workers behind the set in any manner
- Direct to Youtube stream for special broadcasts
- 3 virtual offices worldwide: Calgary, New York, and Washington DC
- Strictest security on entry and set access
- Holographic presenters for remote office visits
- Setup for SNN's Documentary Division, yet to be announced
- Virtual correspondents
- Artificial Intelligence for Close Captioning
Now all this costs money, time, and planning.
