Not knowing this man - Kanye West, or "Ye" as he changed his name in 2021, has made an apology in Hebrew recently:
Not knowing the full context is important. Having watched Mr. West in several videos over the past few years, I recognized manic displays easily. The rambling, the quick speech, confusing phrases and rabbit hole conspiracy theories.
Clearly, Mr. West is suffering from mental illness in some form or fashion. Is it right to punch when someone is suffering? Albeit, with hundreds of millions of dollars in his bank account - even money can't cure this situation.
It gets confusing because this man is obviously black and has problems dealing with racist people daily. One only needs to go into certain neighborhoods in America and Canada to know what this means.
And when this man had his newly renovated mansion gutted to the concrete studs, removing EVERYTHING, I knew something wasn't right.
It indicates extreme anger and wrath against authority. Clearly, this person has had some horrible run-ins with authorities in his time. The fact he covers himself head-to-toe with clothes and blankets means he's taken up an extreme anti-social posture.
And once you get into this mindset, it's very difficult to extract yourself from this habit. He called out a musician for not releasing a track which delayed his recent work. The other artist - who will remain unknown for now, shrugged her shoulders and suggested he "Get over it."
I remember years ago when Taylor Swift was up for an award and Kanye leaped for the microphone, denouncing her.
He was angry at the white establishment in Hollywood in general. The man isn't stupid - clearly he's able to negotiate contracts and release music that's pretty decent - if you're into that style.
Manic behavior is just the tip of the iceberg. As to if this apology is sincere or not: I believe it is. He doesn't have to pray in front of the T.V. screen on national television to get the point across.
Unfortunately, he will likely have more outbursts over time. One wonders what he truly values - and I suspect it's loyalty. And it's probably something that's eluded him personally and professionally for years.
