News cycles constantly, and is a changing format with ever-widening audiences. Now with apps, streaming, and cable services competing for your eyes and attention.
Never has it been more important to deliver straight, accurate news. Back in 1980, Ted Turner founded CNN with about $20-30 million U.S. dollars. This is a substantial amount of capital. He also got to use a satellite for 'free'. A key critical asset for any news organization.
This vast sums of wealth are not available to new organizations that start up today. We literally have to type, research, and write articles from scratch. Fact-checking, reading, and correcting mistakes is a constant job. As far as I know, CNN is the only network to be banned from Venezuela.
Their journalists, some of the most over-paid piece-writers I have ever seen, love to sensationalize news. They claim to own accountability and honesty. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Some of these people make 30, 60, 90, or even hundreds of millions of dollars every year. And for what. They lost all authenticity. Do you think these people have anything in common with a blue-collar worker who makes 50K a year?
The distance in extreme wealth is unbelievable. They are entirely corrupted by money.
They tried in vain to hone authenticity. In the end, the network became the most hated news organization by Former President Donald Trump. After many failed CEO's, this network continues to struggle.
But not all news is fake. There was a time in the early 2000's when I watched CNN. This was when 9/11 happened and reporters were everywhere.
Now, however, bloated networks are just the tip of the iceberg. Almost nobody in my city watches CNN. Conversely, this city is watching Canadian news channels and possibly Fox. Living in a conservative Canadian province such as Alberta has given me freedom to explore further than ever before.
If you think I'll back down to lobbyists in Washington when I live in Alberta, you've got another thing coming.
