The NYC Mayor Eric Adams is under scrutiny again, this time with allegations he accepted bribes from foreign nationals in exchange for political favors - which included helping Turkish officials get fire safety approvals for a new diplomatic building in the city.
This comes after a few months ago, he faced charges and accusations of sexual assault.
Federal agents raided his home today, at his official residence, the Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side at 6AM today.
This was hours before the US attorney for the southern district of New York and FBI & the city's dept of investigation were going to announce federal charges against Adams and unseal the indictment against him.
Authorities have sought information about Adams' interaction with Israel, China, Qatar, South Korea, and Uzbekistan.
This would be the first Democrat indicted on charges while in office - he is expected to plead innocent. AOC was quick to condemn Adams, saying he should resign. 'I do not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City.' she said.
'For the good of the city, he should resign'. she added.
If Adams is forced out of office, the city's public advocate Jumaane Williams would become Mayor and hold an election within 80 days.
