On Tuesday, part of the moon's visible surface will be obscured by the Earth's shadow. It will also be the date when the moon is closest to the Earth, known as a 'supermoon' event. It happens every 27 days due to it's elliptical orbit around the Earth.
It will happen in North America, South America, Africa, and Europe. It will start at 8:41 PM eastern time. The eclipse will peak at 10:44 pm, when 8% of the surface will be in shadow.
