The Washington Post is again rocked by cancellations by irate subscribers after their owner, Jeff Bezos, decided to block an endorsement of VP Kamala Harris for President.
This pissed off many subscribers to the extent of cancelling their memberships altogether.
And although it's only about 8% of their total paid subscribers, which number at roughly 2.5 million - it's substantial.
Instead, the paper has not decided to endorse ANY presidential candidate. Unlike Stone News Network, who at first was steadfastly supporting Donald Trump, pulled support after his regretful comments about blow jobs and Kamala Harris. It was the final straw that broke the camel's back.
The former Executive Editor Marty Baron said in an NPR interview: "If this decision had been made three years ago, two years ago, maybe even a year ago, that would've been fine," Baron said. "It's a certainly reasonable decision. But this was made within a couple of weeks of the election, and there was no substantive serious deliberation with the editorial board of the paper. It was clearly made for other reasons, not for reasons of high principle."
To understand the decision of the mighty Bezos hand would be unthinkable. One never questions people of authority with money. Or do they?
Personally, I never saw much value in the Post since 99% of it's articles are behind a paywall. Like the New York Times.
And don't get me started on every time I see a smug, rich, and entitled journalist on CNN or Fox news who represents the NYT's.
Just no.
Instead, the billionaire's are grasping for Trump's no-tax promise of heaven: Low taxes, non-existent oversight, and a promise of returning to the days of unlimited Xanax and tax exemptions.
Because you know, Jeff Bezos's business suffering so badly these days.
Hard.
