BREAKING NEWS: Philadelphia Plane Crash

A small airplane has crashed into homes in NE Philadelphia on Friday. Two people were on the airplane, along with others injured on the ground, according to local police.

Multiple homes were on fire and an explosion happened. A few blocks from the Roosevelt Mall, a 3-story shopping center near a densely populated area of Philadelphia.

It was a learjet 55, which took off from NE Philadelphia airport at 6:30 PM local time and crashed about 4 miles away, according to the FAA.

The FAA said the flight was en-route to Springfield-Brandson National Airport in Missouri.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro wrote on X that he's in touch with local authorities and is "offering all Commonwealth resources as they respond to the small private plane crash".
