While Mike Johnson had opposition within the Republican House ranks, he managed to pull of a win and secure House Speaker once again.

In a slim majority of 219-215, Johnson eked past and vowed to extend Trump's 2017 tax cuts. They are due to expire this year and roll back the regulations.

That massive $36 trillion dollar debt will be foreshadowed in the upcoming weeks and months for Johnson, as he will be working with soon-to-be President Trump on how to manage it. Rumors are they will eliminate the debt ceiling temporarily, however, this hasn't been confirmed by anyone in the Trump administration.

After Kevin McCarthy's disastrous leadership as House Speaker last year, Johnson is hopeful he'll keep the job and being doing good work for the Republican party.

Mike Johnson is from Louisiana, and at 52, was congratulated by Trump: "Mike will be a Great Speaker, and our Country will be the beneficiary."

Johnson angered Republicans in the house because he turned to the Democrats repeatedly to provide the votes to pass critical legislation - bills to keep the government running. He was especially challenged when Trump rejected the previous spending bill, only to have it adjusted last-minute.
