Pacific Palisades Fire: Thousands of Residents Flee

Fires have ignited in the hills of the Pacific Palisades, growing to 1,261 acres. About 30,000 residents have left the area to escape the dangerous inferno. Power providers have started to turn off power to limit any new fires.

Homes were destroyed and residents were forced to evacuate the dangerous fire today. Traffic jams of people trying to leave the heavily smokey area. The fire started to escalate at 10:30 AM PST, near Piedra Marada Drive. Gusty winds pushed the fire further west and north.


Dry weather has affected the region for many months. Wind gusts up to 70 MPH have been creating dangerous firestorm scenarios. Many houses were burning up as the fire leapt from building to building, driven by the high winds.
The three ways out of the area were packed with traffic for hours.
