Kash Patel was sworn in as the new FBI Director under President Trump. His first plan of action is to move 1,000 employees at FBI headquarters to remote field offices around the country. Then he'll move about 500 people to a facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
During his swearing-in ceremony, Patel said the opportunity to lead the agency will be the 'greatest honor' of his life.
Two Republicans voted against him getting the seat, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. The vote was 51-49.
“I think he’ll go down as the best ever at that position,” President Donald Trump told reporters today.
Patel came out with fists swinging today, saying:
“Anyone that wishes to do harm to our way of life and our citizens, here and abroad, will face the full wrath of the DOJ and FBI,” Patel said. “If you seek to hide in any corner of this country or planet, we will put on the world’s largest manhunt and we will find you and we will decide your end-state.”
Patel replaced Christopher Wray, who angered President Trump by having agents search his Mar-A-Lago estate in August 2022.
Although Patel has 10-year term, we don't know his long term plans, as he will outlast at least 2 future presidents.
