Legal Hurdle Cleared: Federal Workforce Reduction

A Federal judge today removed a legal block which stopped President Trump's executive order to downsize the U.S. federal workforce with 'deferred resignation'.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said:

“This goes to show that lawfare will not ultimately prevail over the will of 77 million Americans who supported President Trump and his priorities.”

Roughly 75,000 federal workers have accepted the offer to leave in return to being paid until September 30th. President Trump has now ended the offer. The union's lawyers are looking at the situation before choosing their next action.

“Today’s ruling is a setback in the fight for dignity and fairness for public servants,” Kelley said. “But it’s not the end of that fight. Importantly, this decision did not address the underlying lawfulness of the program.”

President Trump's goal to re-organize the U.S. federal government workforce into a smaller, more efficient organization. Time will tell if the president is successful or not.
