About 3 years after Russia invaded Ukraine, the war continues on with slow progress. Rumors are Kyiv is struggling with shortages of personnel and weapons, along with a progress of movement within Ukraine by Russia. And with returning President Trump at the helm, it might not be easy to get money as it once was under former President Biden. Putin is well aware of this fact.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to directly negotiate with President Trump, saying "We cannot let someone decide something for us." he told AP news, claiming "Russia wants the destruction of Ukraine freedom and independence."
Putin considers this land to be ancestral to Russia, and does not want to negotiate. Putin claims that Zelenskyy has lost his legitimacy as President.
With many sanctions already in place against Russia, there isn't much economic weapons left in the closet for America and it's allies.
