There will be dark days ahead for Gaza residents, as Israel has cut off all electricity to the poverty-stricken, war-ravaged region.

In what resembles a set from Apocalypse Now, residents of Gaza are surviving with electricity.

From the NY Times:

“We will employ all the tools at our disposal so that all the hostages are returned, and we will ensure that Hamas does not remain in Gaza in the ‘day after,’” Eli Cohen, the Israeli energy minister, said in a statement on Sunday about his decision.

With people living in makeshift camps, hot as hell, without electricity, will continue to prove lethal to the residents. Hopefully power will be restored soon. Basic human aid needs to flow back into Gaza as quickly as possible.

Israel and Hamas are conflicted over who will lead Gaza's military. With Israel insisting Hamas can be no role in the future of Gaza - and Hamas insisting it might be willing to give up civilian governance - but not the military one.
