President Trump has stopped the 25% tariffs he levied this week against Canada and Mexico - until April 2nd. These exemptions expire on April 2, and at that time, even more tariffs might be added due to their reciprocal tariff policy.

Canada will delay a 2nd wave of tariffs worth $125 billion dollars of U.S. products until April 2. There are amended items such as potash, a fertilizer used by the majority of farmers in the U.S.

"On April 2, we're going to move with the reciprocal tariffs, and hopefully Mexico and Canada will have done a good enough job on fentanyl that this part of the conversation will be off the table, and we'll move just to the reciprocal tariff conversation," Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told CNBC. "But if they haven't, this will stay on."

The 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports would still go on as scheduled March 12 for both Canada and Mexico.

They also exempted automotive goods from the 25% tariffs he imposed on Tuesday.
