Putin said that the truce could only work if foreign military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine would end.
The U.S. and Russia agreed on further peace talks - a hopeful sign that the nightmare Ukraine has experienced over the past 3 years will be over.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Ukraine was agreeable to the idea of a truce covering energy infrastructure.
"I think it will be right that we will have a conversation with President Trump and we will know in detail what the Russians offered the Americans or what the Americans offered the Russians," Zelensky said.
From the BBC:Trump posted on social media that Tuesday's call with the Russian leader was "very good and productive".
"We agreed to an immediate Ceasefire on all Energy and Infrastructure, with an understanding that we will be working quickly to have a Complete Ceasefire and, ultimately, an END to this very horrible War between Russia and Ukraine," the US president said on Truth Social.
"Many elements of a Contract for Peace were discussed, including the fact that thousands of soldiers are being killed, and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy would like to see it end."
After the disastrous meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy not even a month ago, Zelenskyy seems agreeable to restart diplomatic relations with President Trump.
In that meeting, President Trump and Vice President Vance confronted Zelenskyy on the war, and at times, the speaking got heated. He was later escorted out of the White House.
If President Trump is able to solidify a peace deal - something President Biden could never do - it would strengthen Trump's appearance as a world wide leader.
