The ratings numbers are in and it's a bleak picture for news media organization CNN: Ratings are at an all-time low.
During the most coveted time for advertisers, the ratings have dropped and CNN is doing a major overhaul as we write this story: Thousands are expected to be laid off, as it averaged a total of 92,000 total day viewers in the 25-54 demographic.
This is a 1% drop from the previous low from 94,000 it had last year - according to Nielsen, as first reported by Mediaite.
They have suffered a 52% decline in it's prime time demo since President Trump took office in January, and pulled only a tiny 77,000 viewers.
It's overall prime time viewership shrunk 45% -- to 405,000 viewers. Only a tiny 11% of viewers of cable news actually bothered to watch CNN, way behind MSNBC's 16%.
“On television, CNN ranked again as a top 5 network in all of cable in Total Day among [people aged two and over] for the 5th consecutive year and in the top 10 among [the 25 to 54 demographic],” the network said in a press release.
Fox's primetime lineup has grown 7% and extended it's current reign as the #1 cable news channel in total viewers in the 24-54 demo for 9 years in a row.
From MSN:
“I am extremely proud of our entire team for proving once again why we are the nation’s most-watched network as we outpaced the competition in covering the stories that mattered most to everyday Americans,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said.
This bleak news couldn't come at a worse time for CNN. We will watch to see if their evening lineups are changed, cancelled, or outright redesigned.
Stay tuned!
