President Trump claimed today that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is extending the 'killing field' after resisting ceding Crimea to Russia as part of a peace plan.
He ruled out ceding the territory yesterday to Russia saying "There is nothing to talk about. It is our land, the land of the Ukrainian people.”
U.S. officials had proposed allowing Russia to keep control of occupied Ukrainian territory. President Zelenskyy called it 'very harmful' to talks.
In social media, Trump fired back, and wrote:
“Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian Territory but, if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired?” He continued with 'he can fight for an other 3 years before losing the whole Country.'
VP JD Vance echoed his comments.
“We’ve issued a very explicit proposal to both the Russians and the Ukrainians, and it’s time for them to either say ‘yes’ or for the United States to walk away from this process,” Vance told reporters.
As battle rages on, leaders around the world are wondering if peace will ever be possible.
