Say Goodbye To Global Trade

$50 per Ton of cargo is what the U.S. will charge Chinese ship owners and operators, and the cost will increase over the next three years.

It will also be based on how many containers they carry or the number of vehicles onboard.

There seems to be no escape from inflation.

The $50 per ton of cargo will rise by $30 a ton for the next 3 years. Fees on Chinese-built ships will start at $18 a ton or $120 per container and rise over the next 3 years. Non-US built ships carrying cars will be charged $150 per vehicle. The only time you can expect an exemption is when US-made ships arrive to take coal or grain to be exported.

They will favor US-built ships carrying liquified natural gas. Levies on Chinese goods could reach 245% - making buying economically impossible.

Many ships from China are now heading to the UK and EU. During the first 3 months of 2025, Chinese imports have increased by 15% to the UK and 12% to the EU.

Companies are already trying to figure out new supply chains amidst these increasingly expensive shipping and tariffs.

In Europe, things could get much cheaper. But in America? It could start the complete opposite.
