President Trump's administration has said there is a chance they will cool off the trade tensions between China and America. Saying they may consider scaling back the tariffs considerably - but not to zero.
President Trump is interested in making a deal with China, but not at 0 percent.
Per Axios:
"We're doing very well with respect to a potential trade deal with China," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters earlier Tuesday.
"The president and the administration are setting the stage for a deal with China," Leavitt added. "Everyone involved wants to see a trade deal happen and the ball is moving in the right direction."
Leavitt's statement followed reports from Bloomberg and CNBC that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told a private group he anticipates the U.S.-China trade war will de-escalate soon.
The tariff trade war could be more expensive than President Trump bargained for. We're hopeful he will remove all trade barriers from all countries and come up with a reasonable plan of action.
Stay tuned.
