According to J.K. Rowling's 'universe', there is no room for trans-gender support or policies.
Honestly, the thought of donating money to this absurdly rich and entitled person is lunacy and madness.
But don't worry, J.K. has you covered with her new anti-trans website.
We could understand some of it. For example, a man turned woman and competing in boxing. Of course it would not be fair and likely very dangerous.
Clearly this woman doesn't give a rats *** what people think about her. To this, some fans are actively turning away from J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter series of books.
Pascal, whose younger sister Lux is trans, urged his followers to not "buy a single Harry Potter thing ever," including by boycotting the upcoming HBO series and attractions at Universal Studios theme parks.
“It’s time to tell these corporations that transphobia loses money," he said.
People on reddit were quick to jump on the condemnation bandwagon.
Way to go J.K. Rowling. You ruined Christmas.
WHAT THE FUCK??? WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL? This lady is the most mentally unwell person in history. She has dedicated her LIFE to this. I know women who wouldn't do for their damn kids all she does for this insane transphobia quest
If we needed yet another example as to why billionaires shouldn’t exist, let this be one. No one should have the funds to do shit like this. It is dangerous, psychopathic, and evil. Tax these assholes out of existence.
Also would this cause count as a charitable cause with tax deductions? Charity having tax advantages at all falls apart under the tiniest scrutiny but its still wildly popular because of centuries of ultra wealthy propoganda
It will likely count as a foundation. In the US, this does have slightly less benefits than a full tilt nonprofit, and legally needs to function differently, but in the UK that all is very different, legally speaking. Though it counting as any of it at all is vile.
However, as a person who works in nonprofit serving a very disadvantaged community, a lot of times wealthy people getting away with tax bullshit has some SERIOUS benefits for us, and us not having taxes is a really important thing for our costs.
Like I’m nickel and diming our budget everywhere I can, and asking for money everywhere I can. Not paying certain taxes is often the difference in 2000 meals and 2500 meals. Which doesn’t sound like a huge deal, but is the difference of 500 kids having food or school supplies or winter coats. Without the tax advantages to them, many wealthy wouldn’t be donating at all, and I’d maybe be able to do 1000 meals.
It sucks. It all sucks. But charity tax advantages for the organizations and the donors are a literal life saver in my world. I get that it’s all an ethically grey nightmare, and groups and people getting away with it for “causes” like hers are monstrous, but… this is how those of us doing it for the right reasons have managed to get it to work in the world now.
yeah, as a woman, i will not feel fucking safer if this stupid societal dogpile on the trans community continues. that does NOT INCREASE MY SAFETY. you know what does? Working on legislation to protect ALL OF US, working on making higher penalties for hate crimes, rape, discrimination in the workplace. I hope she can find a hole somewhere in hell to pour her fortune into, siphon it off so it does no damage. Anybody wanna make up some fake ass foundation we can fool her with lol
