"Stop Processing Student Visas" - Trump Administration

BY C STONE | STONE NEWS NETWORK ||| WASHINGTON, D.C.

The U.S. State Department has stopped the scheduling of new visa interviews for foreign students who want to stay in the U.S. The Trump administration plans to expand the screening of their activity on social media.

This does not apply to applicants who already had scheduled their visa interviews. Marco Rubio (it feels strange saying his name associated to President Trump, due to the numerous nicknames he gave him years ago) - said this today:

“Effective immediately, in preparation for an expansion of required social media screening and vetting, consulate sections should not add any additional student or exchange visitor visa appointment capacity” until the guidance is issued, the cable says.

This spring thousands of international students had their visas revoked. Harvard University had 6,800 foreign students facing deportation, until a Supreme Court Judge reversed the decision. There has also been many lawsuits filed by students over the cancellation.

President Trump has tried to remove all funding from Harvard University, prompting other universities across the United States to think about their uncertain future. Whether it's funding them through federal laws, so far the Trump administration has faced an uphill battle in controlling them.
