“Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today. She was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering,” said DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin.
Noem is 53 years old, who was previously the Governor of South Dakota and represented the state in Congress.
She was asked by President Donald Trump to serve as Homeland Security Secretary. Immigration is her main focus, working on the President's focus on eliminating illegal immigration - and deporting them.
Noem is recovering and should be out of the hospital soon. It is not know what she ate, or what she was allergic to.
