Welcome to the annual G7 meeting, where rich world leaders are just out for themselves.
This stark reminder will be underlined in red, as the host, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, won't be issuing the joint statement or communication at the end of the meeting. We don't expect a cozy reunion between President Donald Trump and the Prime Minister.
With hell breaking loose in the middle east, the only topics we imagine would be:
* Those nasty an unnecessary tariffs applied to Canada
* The Israel-Iran war
* The Ukraine-Russia war
Back to the Israel/Iran war. Per ap:
“We do have longstanding concerns about the nuclear program Iran has. We do recognize Israel’s right to self-defense, but I’m absolutely clear that this needs to de-escalate. There is a huge risk of escalation for the region and more widely,” Starmer said, adding he expected “intense discussions” would continue at the summit.
